Grouting conductor annulus
Well inspections carried out by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) have revealed that significant numbers of wells are suffering from acute corrosion. BSP has decided to initiate a mitigation scheme for corrosion protection of its wells by engaging the expertise and experience of Densit.

Pile-sleeve connections

Grouting of pile-sleeve connections
Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) has laid a 48 inch crude oil pipeline system from Paradip to Haldia, in the Bay of Bengal, together with the installation of crude receipt and storage facilities at Paradip. Densit carries out the grouting work on the 4 pile-sleeve connections of the PLEM.

 

Grouting of pile-sleeve connections
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC, India) is engaged in exploration of the Mumbai High offshore (South field) location about 160 km West-North-West of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea. Pile refusal of 4 skirt piles demanded the ultra high strenght Ducorit® for the pile-sleeve connections in order to provide the necessary bond strenght between the pile and skirt sleeves. 

 

Grouting sleeve connections
In April 2003, Statoil’s Kvitebjorn jacket was installed successfully using Ducorit® S5 for the grouted connections. Kvitebjorn is situated in the North Sea.

Grouting of pile-sleeves and mooring yokes

Densit supplied grout and carried out the grouting of pile-sleeve connections and mooring yokes of two Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems in China. The SPMs are used for permanent mooring of the floating production, storage and as offloading unit.

Grouting of piggyback sleeves
Due to pile refusal of BP´s Valhall water injection platform, a piggyback solution was developed for securing the jacket to the seabed. Ducorit® high strength grout was chosen to ensure a proper structural connection between piles, piggyback and the jacket sleeves.

Connecting turret assembly to buoy hull with grout
Densit provided grouting services to the Norwegian company APL® in connection with their supply of a Buoy Turret Loading System (BTL®). The Ducorit® D1 grout was used to connect the turret assembly to the buoy hull in the BTL® system. 

 

Structural upgrade

Structural upgrade of jacket member strengthening
In August 2006 Densit completed a jacket strengthening project for Sabah Shell. This was the second structural strengthening work performed by Densit on upgrading of the SFJT-B-production platform located at the South Furious Field off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia.

Structural upgrade of well head platform injection of Ducorit®
In December 2004 Densit completed a jacket strengthening project for Sabah Shell. A production platform located in the South Furious Fiels off Sabah was strengthened to accommodate new production facilities including new conductors.

 

Strengthening of platform legs
The three legs of Dong’s Siri platform were strengthened using Ducorit® high strength grout, increasing the load-bearing capacity of the platform by almost 50 %. The Siri platform is situated in the Danish sector in the North Sea.

Structural strengthening
The drilling rig Baltic Beta was reinforced with Ducorit® high strength grout in order to extend the design life by 10 years.

Platform re-qualification
A total number of 28 braces were grout-filled in order to upgrade of two platforms in a platform complex, suffering from an evacuation criteria and production shut down in event of excessive wave conditions.

Structural repair
A four-legged platform was installed at a water depth of 65 m (215 ft.). During the installation two 40 m (130 ft.) mud-braces with a diameter of 1400 mm (55”) collapsed due to external hydrostatic pressure.

Corrosion protection

 

Corrosion protection of sump caissons
Ducorit® grout is the perfect solution for corrosion protection of sump caissons. Casting of the Ducorit® grout can be carried out on live sump caissons without the need for "hot work" or costly interruptions to operations.

Corrosion protection of piles
A Ducorit® grout solution for corrosion protection of 100 piles of an oil jetty has eliminated the costly risk of damage by corrosion due to an aggressive marine environment. After 12 years the piles show no sign of corrosion and no maintenance has been required since the installation.
