History

1960's Aalborg Portland initiates research work with the purpose of developing cement-based materials with ultra high strength and durability.

1970's The DSP technology - Densified Systems containing homogeneously arranged ultrafine Particles - is developed.
The DSP technology forms the basis for producing a class of materials with extraordinary properties in terms of hardness, strength, impermeability, wear resistance, impact resistance, chemical resistance and ability to withstand repeated freezing and thawing cycles.

1978 Because density is a key feature of the materials, they are named Densit® materials and trademarked as such internationally.
Patent applications for the Densit® technology are filed in all major industrial countries in the world.

1983 Densit a/s is established as an independent company as a member of the Aalborg Portland Group.

1980's The trademarks Densit®, Densiphalt®, Densitop®, Ducorit® are registered internationally.

1984 Due to the extraordinary properties of the Densit® materials they find their natural application as barriers in the security industry.
Pohlschröder, one of the market leaders in the security industry decides to make safes with barriers made of Densit® materials only. This affects the whole trade of business.

1985 Thin and light Densit® barriers are introduced to vaults with great success. In the following years Densit supplies all the leading manufactures in Western Europe and later worldwide.

1985 The use of Densit® materials for wear protection linings is obvious and it turns out that the wear linings fit fine into the general wear protection market. Densit® wear protection linings are sold to the cement-, power- and paper industry.
Some years later Densit® wear protection solutions are introduced to the steel industry.

1986 Densit launches a range of products for flooring systems.

1988 The CRC technology – Compact Reinforced Composite – is introduced. A special application combining the Densit® materials with densely arranged reinforcement bars and fibres.

1989 Densit develops the jointless semi-flexible pavement system Densiphalt®. A pavement combining the best properties of concrete and asphalt. Densiphalt® consists of a Densit® mortar which is able to fill out opengraded asphalt developed in co-operation with Danske Phønix (NCC).

1989 Densit® materials prove to be excellent for strengthening of offshore structures and the first installations in the North Sea are made.

1990 Densit receives its first large order for wear-lined pipes and bends for transportation of coal. During the 90s Densit sets up production facilities for pipes and bends in foreign locations.

1992 An international R&D project partly funded by the European Commission is launched with Densit a/s as the Coordinator. Durable repair and rehabilitation systems, including a shrinkage compensated Densit® material is developed in the project.

1994 Densit a/s receives its ISO 9002 certificate.

1995 After several minor installations for strengthening of offshore structures, Densit receives a large order for strengthening of offshore structures in the Ekofisk field in the North Sea.

1996 Densit receives a large order for renovation of Tazu River Bridge in Taiwan with Densit® materials.

1996 Densit establishes subsidiaries in USA and Malaysia.

1999 The Port of Rotterdam orders 170,000 m2 of Densiphalt® to be installed in two of their container terminals.

1999 The Densit® technology for strengthening of offshore structures is extended to the grouting of connections in offshore wind turbines.

2000 Densit a/s acquires 26% of the British Company CIP Ltd. CIP Ltd. provides industrial flooring and pavement solutions. In 2004 Densit a/s resigns

2001 Merger between FLS Industries and Aalborg Portland Holding, the latter's main business activities being renamed FLS Building Materials.

2002 Installation of grouted connections for foundation of 80 offshore wind turbines at Horns Rev - the largest offshore wind farm in the world.

2003 Recertified in accordance with ISO 9001:2000

2003 Densit a/s enters into a Joint-venture with Euclid Chemicals, USA

2005 Densit a/s establishes Densit Asia Pacific for offshore activities in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

2006 Recertification according to ISO 9001:2000

2006 Densit a/s sets up a Wear Protection sales office in Germany

2007 Densit Research Center is established

2007 FLSmidth A/S sells Densit a/s to Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) as of 31 October.

2007 The corporate form of Densit changes from a/s to ApS

2008 Densit celebrates its 25th anniversary.
